Welcome to STORRE: Stirling Online Research Repository
STORRE holds a continually growing collection of the full text of the research outputs of University of Stirling authors. It includes published journal articles, conference papers, book chapters, working papers, etc. As a result of the University policy encouraging open access, the repository will continue to develop as an important source of free full text access to Stirling's research.
STORRE also holds the full text of all University of Stirling research theses from September 2006 onwards; covering PhDs, Masters of Philosophy and Masters by Research plus Professional Higher Degrees by Research. A small collection of our older theses is also included, and is continually added to, due to our involvement in the British Library's EThOS service.

At the intersection of two highly pathologized experiences, research increasingly investigates autistic trans people as a medicalized cause for concern, and anti-trans—or “gender critical”—arguments against trans rights, lives, and health care repeatedly weaponize the perceived vulnerability of autistic people. The interplay of the “vulnerable” autistic person and “predatory” or “seductive” transness (or “gender ideology”) combines with a research literature which focuses on causation to inco...

While research on event management often draws on social exchange and media theories in understanding residents’ supportive attitudes, the role of government–public relationships and strategic communication remains underexplored. Addressing this gap, this study examines how bridging communication strategies affect residents’ supportive attitudes through government–public relationships dimensions in the pandemic-postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics context. Using data from 500 Tokyo residents and par...

In Lisbon, archaeological interventions during urban rehabilitation works often reveal homes where everything is in its right place: the bed is made, the medication is on the bedside table, the dirty dishes are on the sink. Th ese are not old ruins or century-old archaeological deposits, but the homes of recently deceased people without direct heirs, suspended between life and abandonment. These recent environments are loaded with meaning and their imminent destruction raises a fundamental qu...

First paragraph: Free product samples are a powerful marketing strategy. They allow people to try new products without immediate financial outlay, help build brand awareness and may foster customer loyalty.1 Free sampling functions as a form of experiential marketing, which can lead to more positive product-related attitudes and beliefs.2 3 It can encourage engagement with a product category, increase the likelihood of making a purchase4 and ultimately improve sales.1 It is a longstanding pro...

In dense Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), communication fails due to multipath fading and external interferences (EI). In Industry 4.0 environments, low-power wireless standards such as ZigBee, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), WirelessHART, and ISA100.11a face challenges in terms of reliability. Recently, Time-Slotted Channel Hopping (TSCH) protocol has been adopted as a default mode in IEEE 802.15.4, providing resilience against EIs and multipath fading through time synchronization and channel ho...
